Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Lived Experience-led Peer Workforce Guide
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Lived Experience-led Peer Workforce Guide (Guide), the first resource of its kind in Australia, was officially launched on 13 August 2024 by the Hon Pierre Yang MLC, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Health; Mental Health.
The Guide, developed by the Black Dog Institute's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Lived Experience Centre, in partnership with the Mental Health Commission, was created to support the implementation of the Western Australian Lived Experience (Peer) Workforces Framework.
This resource provides guidance for organisations to establish, sustain and continuously improve Lived Experience (Peer) work within their service, and help workforces better understand their roles and responsibilities.
The development of this Guide aligns with our broader strategy of integrating culturally appropriate practices and promoting the inclusion of lived experience in all aspects of care within the mental health, alcohol and other drug and suicide prevention systems.
The online launch is 1pm-3pm (AWST) on Tuesday 13 August 2024.
