MHAOD Strategy consultation wraps up
Recently we announced the development of the Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs Strategy 2025-30 (Strategy) as part of a broader package of reforms to improve leadership, collaboration and coordination of the mental health and alcohol and other drugs systems.
As part of this process, we worked closely with stakeholders to undertake statewide consultation to inform the Strategy over the past six weeks.
We heard from people across the state via face-to-face and virtual workshops, online surveys, written and verbal submissions and targeted engagements.
Commission staff visited every region to hear directly from people with lived experience, their families and carers, community members and local service providers about how the Strategy can be shaped to meet their needs and support better outcomes for their communities.
We also heard from governance bodies and government agencies and partnered with key community agencies to ensure meaningful engagement.
Numbers are still being finalised, but to date we received about 70 written submissions, 45 online survey responses, five in depth community led consultation reports, and more than 200 people engage in the regional and metropolitan workshops. This is in addition to several meetings with stakeholders across the last six months.
As we work through the feedback, we will share the key insights in the new year.
The draft Strategy will be released for further feedback in 2025. Keep an eye on our website and social media channels for project updates.
