Western Australian Suicide Prevention Framework 2021 – 2025
The Western Australian Suicide Prevention Framework 2021- 2025 has been released. It sets the direction for future action to reduce deaths by suicide in Western Australia.
The Suicide Prevention Framework 2025 was developed in consultation with the Western Australian community, academic experts, representatives from relevant government and non-government agencies and those with a lived experience of suicide, in recognition that everyone has a role to play in suicide prevention.
Developed for use by State and local governments, non-government, private organisations and communities to help identify their role in suicide prevention and to guide the investment, development, implementation and evaluation of suicide prevention activities across the State, the Suicide Prevention Framework 2025 considers the most current data, research and evaluation, and aligns with several strategic Commonwealth and State strategies.
In addition to the release of the Suicide Prevention Framework 2025, the State Priorities 2020-2024 includes suicide prevention and treatment as key focus areas and $49.6 million allocated to suicide prevention in the 2020 Budget is being invested into the continuation and expansion of essential services to support people and communities affected by suicides.
