New mental health service for the Midwest
The Midwest region has a new community mental health service, with a new 10-bed step up/step down service opened by Premier Mark McGowan on 11 January 2021.
Evaluations now available
Two evaluations have now been completed and their executive summaries are available. They cover 1) the public non-admitted mental health services, and 2) the Mental Health Emergency Response Line/Rurallink.
Launched: Revised AOD Diversion Program
On 4 January 2021, the Mental Health Commission introduced a revised alcohol and other drug (AOD) Diversion Program. The AOD Diversion Program will replace the existing Pre-Sentence Opportunity Program (POP); Indigenous Diversion Program (IDP); and Supervised Treatment Intervention Regime (STIR).
New campaign to support parents launched, featuring 12 well-known Australians
The new Think Mental Health campaign begins today, which features a series of tips and advice on how to support families and their children with their mental health. The campaign features a series of quick video tips, narrated by 12 celebrities, including actors, singers, sportspeople and the Premier Mark McGowan.
Young people at the forefront with release of YPPA
Today the Young People’s Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drug Use: Priorities for Action 2020-2025 was released, highlighting the government’s strong focus on supporting our young people’s wellbeing.
A new Prevention E-Learning Training Package is now available online!
This training aims to increase the skills and knowledge of the workforce to deliver evidence-based alcohol and other drug-focused prevention programs across Western Australia.
